Aesthetic Dental Treatments

Our office of professionals with over 40 years of experience knows that dental care goes beyond treating disease. That’s why we offer various aesthetic dental treatment options that enhance appearance by reducing fine lines, wrinkles, or asymmetry. These treatments may also benefit patients who struggle with jaw pain from TMD by blocking sensitive nerve endings.

What Is Aesthetic Dental Treatment?

While the focus of cosmetic dentistry is to make your teeth look perfect, aesthetic dental treatment focuses on trying to make minor adjustments in the face and jaw to help patients appear more natural or youthful. The two kinds of popular aesthetic treatments, especially for skin, are Botox and Juvéderm fillers.

Is Aesthetic Dental Treatment Right for You?

Aesthetic treatment isn’t for everyone. People who are typically a good fit for treatment include:

  • TMD patients
  • Patients with imbalanced facial muscles
  • Patients with wrinkles and/or fine lines
  • Patients wanting to boost the appearance of collagen
  • Patients with chronic migraines

What’s the Purpose of Aesthetic Dental Treatment?

Common reasons someone may opt for aesthetic dental treatment include:

  • Decrease jaw pain
  • Manage headaches
  • Smooth out facial wrinkles
  • Appear more youthful
  • Refresh and brighten skin

Types of Aesthetic Dentistry We Offer

The two primary kinds of aesthetic dentistry we offer are Juvéderm fillers and Botox. Our dental professionals are trained and licensed to administer both as needed.

Juvéderm

As collagen production slows down, dermal fillers like Juvéderm® can step in. Made from hyaluronic acid, Juvéderm fillers are injections administered to patients to plump up areas and flatten out fine lines. The injection is targeted with a needle and helps increase hydration and volume in the face and mouth. After getting a Juvéderm® procedure, patients can expect their results to last for up to two years.

What Are the Three Kinds of Juvéderm?

There are three kinds of Juvéderm products a dentist may use, including:

  • Juvéderm Voluma XC: This is used to help fix volume loss in the face related to age through an injection in a patient’s cheek.
  • Juvéderm XC and Juvéderm Vollure XC: XC and Vollure XC are used to smooth lines around the nose and mouth.
  • Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Volbella XC: Ultra XC and Volbella XC focus on the lips and lip augmentation, while also correcting mouth lines.

Botox

Botox is used to relax tiny muscles in the face by blocking the actions of specific nerves. Our dentists are experts in facial anatomy and injections. We are certified to provide Botox treatments. Whether you want to target fine lines or treat the symptoms of TMD, we can help you get the results you’re after.

Why Do Dentists Offer Botox?

Reasons someone may opt for botox include:

  • Pain or nerve relief (TMD)
  • Smooth wrinkles
  • Balance fascial features

Reduce muscle tension in the jaw

Botox for TMD

Botox can be used as a way to treat symptoms of TMD. It relaxes over-exerted jaw muscles, helping relieve severe muscle pain. This can result in jaw pain and headache relief for up to 4 months.

Benefits of Botox for TMD

The advantages of receiving botox treatment for TMD symptoms are:

  • Increased jaw comfort
  • Less frequent teeth grinding
  • Reduced jaw tension
  • Decreased occurrence of lock jaw
