Consultation
We’ll consult with you to learn about your goals and to determine whether braces or clear aligners are right for your teeth-straightening needs.
X-Rays
We’ll need to get an x-ray of your teeth before giving them a new set of clear teeth aligners to see how crooked they currently are.
Clear Aligners Creation
Your clear aligners will be created in a lab customized to fit your teeth after creating a mold in the dental office.
Clear Aligners Fitting
Aligners need to fit nice and snug, so we’ll do a fitting to make sure that the braces are comfortable in your mouth before placing them.
Clear Aligners Placement
Once we’re sure of the fit, we’ll get the aligner placed to keep them firmly in place.
Aligner Maintenance
It’s important to keep your clear aligner in good shape for the continuous support of your oral health. Continue at-home care such as regular brushing, flossing, and cleaning your aligners.
Top of the line technology from a trusted partner
Even a subtle misalignment of your bite could expose your teeth to destructive forces from everyday use. CandidPro clear aligners can help you protect your long-term dental health with a straighter, healthier smile and more functional bite.
What are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are worn for about two weeks until the teeth have moved to their desired positions. The aligners are custom-crafted for you based on your specific needs and the shape of your teeth and jaw. Clear teeth aligners are a common alternative to braces that is more flexible and less invasive.
What Are Clear Aligners Made of?
Clear aligners are made out of a plastic called polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). These medical-grade thermoplastics are highly durable trays designed to be biocompatible with a human mouth.
Discreet Teeth Straightening
At Eagle Harbor Dentist we know that it may not be the most appealing to have braces as an adult. Braces are thicker and more visually obvious than clear aligners. If you think your oral health or confidence could be improved with straighter teeth, but don’t want everyone who sees you smile to know, you can discreetly straighten your teeth with clear aligners over time.
Braces vs. Clear Aligners
Teeth correction doesn’t just improve your smile. It can also decrease discomfort and pain that can occur when teeth aren’t aligned properly or if they’re crowding together. Plus, it can help to prevent future dental injuries. There are two main orthodontic options for correcting your teeth: braces and clear aligners.
Who Should Get Braces?
Braces are often the best choice for younger folks because they can correct even more major problems. They also are affixed to the teeth so patients don’t have to remember to put them back in after eating. On the other hand, braces are visually obvious and food can get stuck in them or even break them.
Who Should Get Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners could also be an approach to consider if the adjustments needed are more minor. They won’t be as visually obvious as braces but isn’t as effective in correcting major issues. Another benefit of clear aligners is that there aren’t restrictions on what you can eat because you take the retainer out at meals.
How it works
How the Clear Aligners Process Works
Before you decide that you want clear aligners, you should know what the process is like.
Step 1:
Consultation
If you’re considering getting clear aligners, you’ll need to consult with a dental professional. During the consultation, the dentist will listen to your concerns and examine your teeth to figure out if they would be the best way to help you achieve your goals.
Step 2:
Discuss Your Options
In some cases, you may be better off getting traditional braces to achieve your teeth straightening goals. The dentist may use a computer program to show you how the alignment process would look so that you can make an informed decision.
Step 3:
Prepare Your Teeth
If you and the dentist agree that aligners are the best option, the dentist will first clean your teeth so that when we make a mold, the retainer will fit properly.
Step 4:
Take an Impression
We’ll then take an impression of your teeth. This is what will be used to create the retainer so that it sits perfectly in your mouth.
Step 5:
Create the Aligner
After we’ve taken impressions of your teeth, we’ll send those off to a lab where the aligners will be created and customized to match the teeth exactly.
Step 6:
Fit the Aligner
We’ll schedule the second appointment after we’ve received the retainer from the lab. At this time, we’ll fit them to your teeth to make sure that the fit works well and is comfortable.
Step 7:
Take the Clear Aligners Home
Once we’re certain that aligners are the right fit, we’ll have you take them home and begin use.
Step 8:
Maintain the Aligners
Most of the maintenance of your new aligners will be on your at-home care. It’ll be important to practice good oral health habits and take them out before eating to keep the retainer in good shape.
